Very Gwen-ish

Quilted Faux Leather Jacket

I came across this jacket on Forever21 and immediately it reminded me of my girl fashion crush, Gwen Stefani.

I love this jacket/shirt's structured sleekness and fab gold button detail. The puffed short sleeve gives it an unexpected twist that I just love.

I will pay homage to Miss Gwen by rocking this jacket/shirt with black skinnies, sky high black booties and a crimson lip. "B-A-N-A-N-A-S!"

Fab Find

I came across the most fabulous napkin holders and I just got to have them!!

Z Gallerie
I just love how unique and flamboyant they are. They would truly be conversation starters for a dinner party.

On This Day

I said "I Do" to the most wonderful man that God could have ever blessed me with. We have had a blissful relationship and our first year of marriage has been excitingly so. I look forward to many, many more years with the person with whom my Soul loves.

HAPPY 1st ANNIVERSARY!!

Baby Grand Piano

I just LOVE craigslist.org!! It's a treasure trove for the patient and sometimes you find the BEST things when you're not really looking.

Today was one of those days for me.

I just bought a Baby Grand Piano for wait for it, wait for it... $175.00!!!! Yup, I sure did!  (that's not the actual piano but it's the same style that I bought)

I was trolling the List early this morning and not really looking for anything in particular and came across an ad for a baby grand piano. I was like hmmm, this has got's to be a typo. So I emailed the seller and sure enough, it was actually selling for $200.00 and STILL available.

I went to see it and the seller's mom was so nice to me and was chatty, which was great because she had a BEAUTIFUL house and I couldn't help but gush at the fabulous decor. She shared with me a super inexpensive reupholster and a great fabric manufacturer, both friends of hers. She even offered to help me reupholster my Regency dining room chairs.

So when I finally got around to writing the check, she said, "Just make it out for $175.00"  OMG!!!

The piano is in excellent condition and only needs to be tuned. I'm stoked!

Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate it into my living room design. Yea me!

The visual masterpiece was created by Americana Cinema. I wish I knew about them when I got married. They are FABULOUS! Maybe we will commission them for the renewal.

Congratulations Coco and James!!

Talbots + Linda = Say Whaaaat!?!?

photos

Linda Evangelista looks BEAUTIFUL in these Talbot's ads and if the intention was to get a younger demographics attention, mission accomplished! I'm totally loving that camel coat. Dare I say, I'm taking a trip to Talbot's?

Light Love

Just a few lighting choices that I'm thinking about making new additions to our home.

Although I've never been a fan of bronze in my home's decor...the first floor lamp has me reconsidering the metallic.

Oh, Happy Day(s)!!

I know I said previously that I would be back to posting this weekend but I just couldn't resist. I really missed blogging.

The Hubs and I have a eventful end of August.. the house closing on the 24th, my birthday on the 27th and our 1st wedding anniversary on the 30th! I'm really excited for all these milestones.

I plan on packing a picnic lunch to enjoy, after the closing, in our new house. Of course, there's no furniture or anything of the sort.. it will be just us and our picnic basket in our new HOME. We will celebrate this new adventure in our life over a tasty meal and champagne, dream together about our future in the house and count our blessings.

I plan to have a girls' night out with friends in Maryland on the 26th. We ALWAYS have a ball when we get together, I can't wait!!  Birthday cupcakes and champagne... I just want dessert and liquor! And maybe a gift or two or ten.

Not sure what I'm doing with my family on my birthday but I'm sure I'll be all smiles.

*Fun Fact * I always cry when the "Happy Birthday" song is sung to me. So all photos taken during said song feature the dreaded ugly cry. Ugh, why do I do that?? I even tear up when it's sung to someone else. How crazy is that??

But I sure do know that I want, so I share my gift wish list.

I really love this Haviland boot from Steve Madden. It's "inspired" by the Stuart Weitzman 50/50 Over The Knee boot.

The Kindle DX Graphite is high on the wish list. Who doesn't want one of these?? Although there's nothing better than the tactile experience of book reading, this baby is handy and convenient when you don't want to lug around the newest September issues of your favorite glossies.

I really love Olivia Palermo's style. I don't think I've seen her in anything I wouldn't add to my closet. That said, I would really love to have this vintage-y, paisley, sheer-y, billowy sleeved beauty she has on. It is my "wish list" right, so I'm wishing this into my possession. Don't know where she got this beautiful dress but yup, I want.

And last but not least, something I may gift myself:

The Chloe Elsie Bag in Python just takes my breath away.. I love the color, the shape, the texture and the top handle. This bag would be a perfect addition to my Fall 2010 collection.

Truly His & Hers

Hey Gang! Sorry for the lack of posts, been super busy with baby showers, weddings, college tours and attempting to keep my sanity with the house buying thing. Will get back to posting more consistently this weekend. Thanks for being patient with my living la vida loca.

In the meanwhile, here's a pic of a fab find!

I really love functional artsy pieces. These tables are on my wish list..hopefully I can find them on sale somewhere.

A Pretty Pixie

I LOVE Emma Watson's new haircut. It's very Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby...

That cut, color and lush lashes, hauteness!

Bridal Tresses

A dear friend of mine is having an island destination wedding in November. She has requested moi, to provide her hair and makeup look. She is looking for something easy breezy yet chic. I think this look fits the bill totally.

photo
A perfect look for a beach wedding, no hair flying all over the place...no pics of constantly trying to move hair out of her face...no flat curls or waves from the humidity.

Yup, perfect beach wedding hair.

Nightmare-ish!

Dealing with the processes building up to the settlement date, August 24th, has been driving me CRAZY!!! Seriously, I'm losing weight behind the stress... not such a bad thing, as I could stand to shed a few pounds but still.

Yup, that's how I feel, like I'm herding freakin' cats!!

Military Stylings

Every year I choose a feature color to incorporate into my wardrobe. This year it's green. So what better way to infuse green than with the hue of the military trend.

I just added these to my wardrobe:

Forever21 Double Breasted Squadron Jacket

ASOS Hooded Military Cape

Both pieces are so cute, just love them to pieces.

Dining Room Divine

I had my heart set on having a round table for the new dining room (if we get the house, that is). I reached out to the fabulous Amanda of Casa Brasi to ask her advice on said round table. She was a complete doll as she emphasized to work with the flow of the room.

Long story short, a round table really won't work for a 18x13 rectangular room. *le sigh* But I was immediately encouraged when I picked up the latest issue of Floria Design magazine. There was an ad that immediately captured my heart.

This ad, design and furniture is the beautiful work of Roz Shuster. You have to go to the site to see this photo in color, I highly encourage you as this space SINGS in color.

Anyhooo.. this design is so light yet chic, which is very appealing to me. Although I can't make around table work, this table option makes me giddy. I love the open pedestal base that lends to that air of lightness and space. Another design element I love is the molding on the walls, it adds eye pleasing architecture. Lastly, the tall bookcases... it's GENIUS!! The brown really pops against the white walls and has a nice relation to the light brown flooring. (see color photo) It also draws the eyes up, making the room seem so much bigger. In addition, it's a nice departure from the norm of a china cabinet or buffet or console.

The only thing I don't like is that the table top is glass... umm no. I don't want a glass table. So I've been on the hunt for an equally stylish table.

I really LOVE this table! It has a similar feel of the Shuster table and no glass top. I wish I had a better photo but you can view it bigger here.

Other options:

I think all of these tables are fab and I would LOVE to see this last one in person. Once I select a table, I can then refinish my chairs... may have to get rid of the leopard.
