What I'm Loving Today

This wallpaper is just beyond.... so beyond, I can't even speak!!! Decor Demon, you, Sir, are BADASS!

JEWEL TABLES!!!! Need I say more?? I don't think so but I can't help myself... these beauties are mirrored acrylic and shine just like black diamonds. I love that they are functional art... I can check my makeup while placing a martini on it.

I was watching an episode of True Blood and in one scene my eyes beheld these fabulous sterling silver doors and I've been obsessed with sterling silver furniture ever since. I LOVE this Indian inspired silver console. The details are exquisite and I'm quite glamoured by it.

This post is all over the place with decor elements, no cohesion what so ever but hey, it's what I'm loving today!

Gotta Love A Great "Before and After"

I really love this Before and After because it addresses two items in the house we put an offer on. The stairs and the entrance to the kitchen.

In the house that we love, the staircase is weird for such a large foyer, so I was hoping that could be changed and turns out that it can be and in a very fab way. The other thing was the seemingly small doorway to the kitchen. I had also wondered what could be done about that, maybe move the wall over a little bit?? But now I see that a barrel vaulted ceiling may be in our future. The following pics give me hope.

See? While the stairs are ok for this house... look at the small entry to kitchen.

Total nirvana!! The upper portion of the staircase curved and the second floor was opened up to give a more airy feel and allow in alot more light. But my favorite change is the entrance to the kitchen, it's spectacular. Gone is the low, square entrance and now the hallway is more spacious and give a bigger over all feel to the foyer. I love that.

I wonder if they made good use of the space under the stairs? I'm sure a coat closet or shelved storage would fit nicely there.

So if you're tired of your space and want to fab it up or just want more insider tricks and tips of renovation and interior design, be there or be square on June 23. They will discuss:

  • Decorating on a budget
  • Using flea market finds and mass brands (such as Ikea) to create stunning environments
  • How color can change your life
  • Learning to take risks in decor (you can always change them back)
  • And more!

I know this couple has taken the industry by storm and while I'm not a interior designer by trade, I do want my humble abode to be as fabulous as it can be, so I will be there. I may not love everything they do, I do love their overall style.

Newest Home Additions

Well, actually these new purchases will go in to storage until I can clean and refinish the wood. But I just love my new acquisitions:

I DIE!! I just love these French leopard print Regency chairs, a haute find on eBay. I just had to get them as soon as I laid eyes on them. I can't wait to get them home!

I have two ideas in mind for these chairs. The first would be to keep the leopard and paint the frame a high gloss black OR... stay with me... paint the frame with a high gloss white and replace the leopard with vinyl faux croc in either, white, silver gray or black.  Whatcha think?

Now, I just have to find a table. I'm thinking a 60" round on a pedestal. Although they would be equally fab for a long rectangular table but I think I would have to add two different types of chairs for the ends of the table.. I don't know, we'll see.

My other purchase was this fabulous highboy.

A Craigslist find. It's a carved satinwood highboy dresser and I'm just smitten with it. I think the combo of this satinwood, which I've never heard of before but love the look and those gilded legs just did it for me. I'm thinking this will go in the bedroom, maybe.

My latest OBSESSION is silver bamboo flatware.

I really want a 45 piece set in sterling silver. I just love the look of the bamboo shape and I'm really gaga over the more circular handles, it just adds a little extra fancy umph, in my opinion.

I See You Ann Taylor

And I just love this new dress that just popped up in my Inbox.

I must say that leopard print sheath is fabulous. I love that the print is big, it gives it such a sophisticated look.

And you have made it certainly irresistible with 30% off.  Thanks a bunch Hun!

Mia Bossi = FABULOUS!!

I have just found my baby bag. Nope, not preggers but if and when I am, I need this bag! Where was this fabulousness when I had my daughter 17 years ago??

I really love that these bags can serve multi-functions, a diaper bag, of course, a purse (I LOVE a huge bag) and a laptop bag.

My fav is the Mia Bossi Maria in Chocolate... yummm. It's a great neutral and made of the most luxurious supple leather you've ever slung over your shoulder.

Going to IKEA

How Cute!!

I remember when I was planning my wedding that I was just dying to have these LOVE ceramic plates to use on the cake table... or somewhere in the wedding.

I never did get around to getting them but I still like them and have pondered still getting them.

Then, I saw that now all the letters of the alphabet are available and you can get any combo of letters or even phrases. Although I think a phrase would be a bit much.

I think it would be great to get "BABY" as I have a couple of baby showers that I have to throw in a few months. However, "LOVE" would get more use and be all encompassing for most occasions and get togethers.

I also thought about getting "DIVA" or "FABULOUS"... just because.

Floored

I'm feeling really drawn to 24" tiles. I just love the grandeur of them. To me, they really open up a space.

The tile in these rooms just screams spacious to me and I like it.

So running with that idea, I've been thinking of flooring for my dream house and what I would like to do to the kitchen once we demo it to enlarge and add a breakfast room. And I am just gaga over this:

Phelans

That wood and tile combo is the cat's meow! It gives the feel of the larger tile that I love and the walnut planks warms up the kitchen nicely as well as ties into the cabinetry.

I also think it will tie into the rest of the house... (look at me planning the flooring in a house I don't have yet, here's to wishful thinking) as I want tile in the foyer and rich, dark hardwood on all the floors.

Like this for the foyer:

And this for the rest of the flooring:

I just love how crisp these looks are.

If any of these images are yours, please let me know so I may credit you or remove, if you wish. I can't for the life of me remember where I found them.

Fab Finds

While trollin' the Net looking for nothing in particular, I come across the most amazing finds. Case in point:

Antique Blue Medallion Linen Closet

Isn't this an amazingly chic storage cabinet? I love it's blue-gray finish and ornate details.

Next up:

Ebay

These chairs are simply divine! I'm totally smitten with the fuchsia coloring and the mod shape. The only thing I would change is the wood trim color. I would like to see a high gloss black, I think it would really make those chairs SING!

Lastly:

Portico Button Tufted Bench Seat Sofa

This curved bench sofa would be ideal for banquet seating at a dining table. I just LOVE banquet seating. I think it would look quite fab with the fuchsia chairs above.

Just add the "earrings":

And voila, instant AbFab! (absolutely fabulous)

Soooo Ready

This home buying process is so stressful. But I'm hopeful and praying that we get the house that we put an offer on.

I think about this house CONSTANTLY... like constantly, for real.. constantly. Every time my phone rings or I get a text, I hoping it's my realtor with good news.

Nothing yet... but she has encouraged me to keep looking just in case. I don't wanna keep looking. I found OUR house. I can see us celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary there, which is in August.

I have been cyber decorating each space, bit by bit. Watching the DIY Network like a mad woman for ideas and jotting down the names of all the tools and their uses. I'm so ready to tile and lay new hardwood floors, like nobody's business.

I'm just so ready for our house.

Come Up And See Me Some Time

A famous line uttered by the fabulous Mae West and for the longest time, that's about all I knew about her. Well the other day, I was channel surfin' and came across an old movie that grabbed my attention by the glitz of the woman, I came to know was Mae West and this glamourous decor or set design. That movie, that I caught probably in the middle, was called "I'm No Angel". I plan to purchase a copy along with "Auntie Mame", both for awe inspiring costumes and set design. I'm sure I'll plenty of ideas to remix for my own home decor.

That Mae West was a firecracker.

Yes, Please!

*FAINTS*

How Cute!

How fab is this serving plate?! It's from Hobby Lobby and I just HAD to snatch up a couple with my new last name's monogram.. not "E" but "A".

I came across this super cute find on ellyB Events.com. She's a wedding planner from Atlanta with an excellent eye for all things chic wedding.

I had to purchase this beauty on-line as there are no Hobby Lobby in NJ. BOOOOO!

They would make a great hostess gift, no?

Would it be totally obnoxious to order 8 plates to use as dinner plates for holiday dinners?

Champagne Tastes, Blah Blah Blah

You know the sinking feeling you get when you find something you absolutely LOVE to bits and want SOOOOO badly only to find that it is out of your realistic reach? That's how I feel now as I'm trying to compile a purchase list for my dream living room.

Remember this?

It's the super FABULOUS room that I gaze at endlessly, *sigh* it's so freakin' gorgeous.

Long story short about the featured sofas, is that I can't afford them. One sofa is $6000 and that's WITHOUT the silver grey finish nor the fabric. BOOOOO!

The Clermont Loveseat by Lewis Mittman

So, in my effort to still have my dream living room at a price I can live with, enter the Isabelle Burlap Sofa

I like this sofa because it has similar lines and detail. The other great thing is that it may be customizable as is Zuniga Interiors other furniture. So with the right fabric and finish, I'm well on my way to a gorgeous living room, ala Tradition Homes.

Oh, I didn't mention the price... I can get both sofas for the less than the price of the "base" model of the Lewis Mittman version.

So what do you think?  Is it a good substitute? Yea or Nay?
